Common Name: Sponges
The Latin name comes from the number of spores on the organism's body
The sponge body can differ throughout the different species but all are asymetrical and often vase like in shape.
They typically grow on rocks, dead coral, or anywhere else they can attach.
There are 5,000 to 10,000 known species of sponges.
